Youth EducationOpera New Jersey is strongly committed to youth education, and provides numerous opportunities to engage children in the world of opera. Our Interact with Classics tours bring an interactive adaptation of a classic opera into the classroom, introducing students of all ages to this extraordinary art form. To provide more compelling means of both education and entertainment, Opera New Jersey has eliminated the passive audience by engaging all students in an interactive experience, 15-30 of which will be featured on-stage with our professional artists Opera Residencies take our tours one step further, and are designed to fit each school’s curriculum and help students learn about a variety of topics, including different cultures, history, as well as the various jobs involved in producing an opera. At Opera New Jersey’s Kids Camp, led by our education staff and professional opera singers, students will explore opera through theater games, improvisation, and composition. They will learn about the different jobs of producing an opera - from performance to set design. The campers will also create an original production, which they will perform at camp's end for an audience of parents and community members.
